Publication: An in vitro Perfused Macroencapsulation Device to Study Hemocompatibility and Survival

Writer: Hoesli LabHoesli Lab

Congratulations to Stephanie Fernandez in the Hoesli/Leask labs for their manuscript describing a human-scale perfusion system to study immobilized islet performance. Because of the scale of the system, Doppler imaging and PET/CT systems were implemented to study blood perfusion and cell metabolism in situ. The device and combination of imaging techniques can be useful for scaling up vascularized encapsulation systems. Co-authors include Lisa Danielczak, Gabrielle Gauvin-Rossignol, Craig Hasilo, André Bégin-Drolet, Jean Ruel and Steven Paraskevas.
